Skincare focus: The Ordinary

It’s possibly one of the most talked about skincare brands at the moment. It’s cheap, it’s minimal in the packaging and it does its work. Incredibly good. It’s The Ordinary, a brand from the Deciem group. When I first heard about it I was a bit sceptical, can you imagine? A skincare product that is no chemical whatsoever at such small price? According to the Deciem website, the brand was created “integrity in its true form”.

The Ordinary, as well as all the Deciem brands, don’t test on animals, pretty much almost all their products are vegan and their customer service online is possibly one of the best I’ve found at the moment! So kudos to them! This Canadian brand takes a clinical science based approach to skincare and it specialises in a single ingredient product that deliver targeted results. If you’re new to their products a very good guide on their website can help you find the right products for your skincare regime.

If that’s not enough here’s my top products already tested, suggested to all my friends and loved!

It’s a very gentle cleanser that removes all my make-up, including the stubborn eye makeup and leaves my skin smooth and moisturised. There is squalane in it, which is gentle and efficient in dissolving make-up and impurities. The product is alcohol free, oil free, silicone free, vegan, gluten free and cruelty free. It has a balm consistency, however once you rub it between your fingers it becomes kind of oil. It’s suitable for all skin types and it’s gentle enough to be used everyday.

Directions: I use it daily on my dry skin, I rub a bit of product in between my hands and the on my face in circular movements and then I rinse it with warm water.

It’s alcohol free, oil free, silicone free, vegan, cruelty free, gluten free. This hyaluronic acid contains a 2% of HA crosspolymer for multi-depth hydration. Vitamin B5 enhances surface hydration. This formula offer a visible plumping without drawing water out of the skin. It leaves my face naturally glowy.

Directions: I apply few drops of this acid twice a day, after cleansing my skin. I massage it on my face and my neck.

Niacinamide (vitamin b3), reduces the appearance of blemishes and skin congestion. Zinc balances the sebum activity. Again this is vegan, cruelty free, silicone free, gluten free, oil free and alcohol free.

ATTENTION: If you’re using vitamin c in your skincare routine, please don’t use them together but alternate it. Also if your skin is sensitive use it only in zones that have blemishes. However, this is not a treatment for acne and you should consult your dermatologist.

Directions: I use it only in the evening and only on my T-Zone which is my most congested area. It reduced redness as well.

This moisturiser contains NMF (natural moisturising factors) which keep the outer layer of the skin well protected and hydrated. These factors are made of amino acids, fatty acids, glycerine, hyaluronic acid. This formula is alcohol free, gluten free, vegan, silicone free, oil free, cruelty free. After using it continuously I noticed my skin is more elastic and less dull.

Directions: I apply it only in the mornings as last step of my skincare routine.

There are a lot more products that I’m dying to try including their caffeine solution, their peeling, and their make up as well. I’ve read lot of good things about their make up, their consistency. Did you try The Ordinary? Can you suggest something else, drop a comment below.
